Description of App

AT&T Navigator transforms your iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G or iPad into a voice-guided GPS navigation system with turn-by-turn driving directions and other features that are just as helpful for when you are driving across town as they are for driving across the country. A subscription charge will appear on your AT&T wireless bill. You can choose between monthly or annual subscription options (details below).
AT&T Navigator is a GPS navigation tool for the AT&T iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPad. It does not work on the original iPhone or the iPhone 4 on Verizon.

What's new in 1.9i:

  • Supports iPad and iPad 2. Note: You must have a valid AT&T mobile phone number to use the service.
  • GPS bug fixes. We recommend you to upgrade to the latest iOS version for optimum performance.

Other Features:

  • Spoken GPS directions guide you through every turn, including street names so you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
  • Automatic re-routing if you miss a turn.
  • Real-time traffic updates. In one-tap you can save time by avoiding traffic along your route.
  • One of the smallest navigation apps on iTunes, saving you space for your songs, videos and other apps.
  • Regular map updates automatically included so you have the latest street names and roads available.
  • Preplan your trip while you are online by sending the address directly to your phone. (www.attnav.com)
  • Search for the lowest gas prices nearby and save money.
  • Regular updates for over 24 million businesses and points-of-interest. Make selections based on user reviews.
  • Control your iPod music from AT&T Navigator. Never leave your map to change the song.
  • Full iOS4 multitasking Support: Keep navigator running while on the phone.
  • One-Touch Speech Recognition allows you to speak commands to get driving directions and local search results while keeping your eyes on the road.
  • Downloadable regional maps and point-of-interest content for a seamless navigation experience when out of wireless coverage. (Requires iPhone 3GS and above.)
  • View maps and routes on an overhead satellite view so you can recognize landmarks along the way. (Requires iPhone 3GS and above.)
  • Traffic view overlays current traffic conditions on maps and routes. (Requires iPhone 3GS and above.)

Choose from two subscription options (select your subscription plan during the initial AT&T Navigator setup):
1. Monthly Subscription: Pay $9.99 per month. Monthly charge will appear on your AT&T wireless phone bill. Cancel at any time*.
OR
2. Annual Subscription: Pay $69.99 per year. The charge will appear on your AT&T wireless phone bill. Cancel within 30 days of subscription.**
Plus, your AT&T Navigator subscription will be valid on both your AT&T mobile phone and on the iPad/iPad 2.

Existing AT&T Navigator customers: If you would like to convert to an Annual Subscription, cancel your monthly subscription. Restart AT&T Navigator and then choose the Annual Subscription option setup. See below for instructions on how to cancel your service.
Monthly or annual subscription charge will appear on your AT&T wireless bill. AT&T Navigator is compatible with the iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPad. It does not work on the original iPhone or the iPhone 4 on Verizon.
*Note: Monthly subscribers, deleting this app from your iPhone will not stop the monthly subscription charge. To cancel the subscription and monthly fee from within the application, go to Tools & Extras > About, and select Billing and Subscriptions. You can also cancel your subscription at att.com/directbill or by calling (800) 331-0500.
** Note: Annual subscribers, to cancel your Navigator subscription and receive a refund, you must cancel within 30 days from the application activation date by calling (800) 331-0500.

Compatibility

This is a universal app, so works natively on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

Device(s) App Was Tested On

iPhone 4

Accessibility Comments

The app is 99.999% accessible. Once you start a route, the route navigation page is completely 100% inaccessible. The good thing, however is you do get audible feedback turn by turn directions, so for that reason, it's worth the investment. If it weren't for that, I'd say don't get it.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labelling

Few buttons are clearly labelled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver, but the interface makes the app very difficult to use.

Other Comments

As stated below, I have contacted the developer, and they seem incredibly interested in fixing the problems with the navigation screen. They asked me what they specificly needed to do to make that part of the app read so that they could get things fixed very quickly. I told them I wasn't sure, but would check, so, if any of you out there know the ins and outs of this stuff, drop the developers a line and let them know, so they can get the ball roling on this.
